Introduction:

  • This sleek design swimming pool ioniser is designed to help keep your pool water clear by releasing copper and silver ions into the water. These ions help prevent the growth of algae, bacteria, and other contaminants.
  • Suitable for 20,000l-80,000l swimming pools.
  • Can also be used with any pool surface type. Pebble, concrete, fibreglass, vinyl and tiled pools.

How it works:

As the solar ioniser floats on the surface of the pool, sunlight is converted into electricity through the 2 watt 6 volt solar panel. The positively charged copper/silver anode and negatively charged metal spring cathode are energised by a harmless low current under water, causing the release of mineral ions into the pool, neutralising the growth of microorganisms. This creates a natural pool feel while only having to use a minimal amount of chlorine, salt and no stabiliser.

Package Contents:

  • Floating Swimming Pool Ioniser unit
  • User manual (you're reading it!)
  • Copper anode
  • Wire brush
  • Copper test strips
  • 2x vinyl screws
  • Mesh deflector

Pre-installation:

Test pool water and have parameters as follows:

-Chlorine: 1-2ppm. If total and free chlorine are above 2ppm add chlorine remover accordingly.

-Ph: 7.2-7.6ppm. Hydrochloric acid to lower Ph. Soda Ash to raise Ph.

-Alkalinity: 80-120ppm. Sodium Bicarbonate to raise Alkalinity.

-Calcium Hardness: 200-400ppm. Calcium chloride to raise.

-No need to add pool stabilisers and numerous bags of salt.

Salt/Mineral Pools:

Are able to run a lower salt level depending on the brand of the chlorinator. Most chlorinators can run as low as 2500-3500ppm. You can also turn your run times down to a minimum of 4 hours a day and your chlorinator output to its minimum production setting.

Liquid chlorine pools:

The system can now be adjusted to run a minimum of 4 hours a day and on its lowest dosing setting.

Installation:

Follow these steps to install the Floating Swimming Pool Ioniser:

  1. Ensure the pool is cleaned, clear, backwashed and in good operating order.
  2. Ensure the pool water chemistry is balanced within recommended levels.
  3. Remove the unit from the packaging and inspect it for any visible damage.
  4. Lay ioniser flat side down on grass or on a towel then screw in the copper anode while pushing down spring.
  5. Attach mesh deflector and tighten down firmly with vinyl screw provided.
  6. Place ioniser on the pool and let it start working.

Maintenance:

Electrode Replacement:

  • Over time, the copper anode will wear down and will need replacement. You should be getting 2 summer seasons out of the copper anode.
  • We recommend purchasing our ‘service kit’ every year as preventative maintenance on the unit.
  • To replace the electrode, simply reverse the steps in the installation section.

Cleaning:

  • Periodically clean the copper anode to remove any deposits. Use the soft wire brush provided in the kit and brush the mineral deposits until the copper anode is clean.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that may damage.

Care:

  • When taking the ioniser out of the pool, be sure to lay it flat side down for 15 minutes before storing it away from direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting:

  • If you encounter any issues with the ioniser, refer to the installation section to see if any steps were missed. Make sure the copper anode is hand tight but firmly screwed in and the mesh deflector and vinyl screw are hand tightened.

Safety Precautions:

  • The 2 watt 6 volt solar panel will not give you a shock if exposed to the sun and touched.
  • Do not expose solar panel to direct sunlight unless it is sitting on the pool.
  • When taking ioniser out of pool, be sure to leave it flat side down for 15 minutes away from direct sunlight before storing away.
  • Keep the Floating Swimming Pool Ioniser and its power supply away from water when not in use.
  • Keep the ioniser out of reach of children and pets.
  • The ioniser is safe to have in the pool while swimming.
